Re: assembly

A ten minute indoor assembly wouldn't be great for american football!

We've been into schools before, normally in last week of term or in an 'activities' week for a day/afternoon.

I'd be interested in setting something like that up.

Could bring 3 GB Junior 15-19 coaches (all CRB checked) and local Junior 15-19 team HC (3 national semi finals and 1 final in last 4 years). And however many players needed for a demo and to facilitate.

If something like that was interesting guess could do a 10 minute warmup for it to get people interested and excited.

Usually do about 30-45 min of training (drills, catching etc) with 2 or 3 groups ideally of about 20-30. And then in the afternoon have a little tournament. It'd be none contact and 'flag' football. We'd bring pads and helmets for our demo guys to show them what it is like. But not worth the safety implications to let the kids hit each other.

In the past at a school I worked at it was a merit based reward. In another it was people who had represented school teams getting to try something new out. In one school it was just who had pe with a certain teacher in the morning.

Let me know if that would be of interest.

Re: assembly

Yeah should be. I have actually resigned from the teams I was involved in, to take a new job in a different team. I should still be able to do it with new guys or get it into the hands of the right people at last team.

Yeah have discussed with new team, they're happy too.

And they're based in Durham at the 5 aside place and where Durham City play. They're more than happy to help and have a youth team 14-16 so kids could jump straight in if they enjoyed it. Looking to start a Junior team 16-19 asap.
