Re: Gators Bitches (RPG Group)

So we did some stuff wrong.

The feat points aren't automatic and should be awarded by GM. Not everyone needs to qualify.

Maybe the first 3 dudes were basic grunts and the second 3 were halbadiers or something so they generated them.

Think they should be given out frequently still but not auto matic. Maybe 2+ for most basic troops and 3+ for absolute grunts. Automatic for anything a bit better (the arcanist or sniper).

Jacks don't earn feat points for you, the represent your characters ability to do heroic things.

Jack situation was messed up at the end. Yes there is a reset button, but it enters a state were a spoken command is needed to unlock it. So Bones couldn't have started the jack up, meaning he couldn't of carried his other out of there. So we might have lost both jacks if we ran at the end.

Also Sib couldn't bond to it. A warcaster can freely bond to a jack in a receptive state, just takes a full action but must have a spare bond ability on character sheet. So next XP Sib can get a new bond ability and if that happened again he could then walk up and bond someone elses jack.

A mech eng 14 roll to reset the jack was ok imo. It says on warjacks they are locked away.

We might need to resolve the end again or come to some agreement over it. To be honest I would have stayed and fought just to save boneys jack. Maybe we could have searched the buildings and found the pass codes. But we didn't so don't really know. Could have at least had boney strip it's cortex and weapons whilst we held off the next wave and stuck them on his, or sold them.

We were always gonna make mistakes. And every game needs a bit of ad-lib in it.

It was enjoyable, played well and has good aspects of the full game we love.

Shaun can have a think about how he fixes things. I'm an advocate of once its happened its done and you have to find a way to smooth things.

My quick fix would be - my character was above the caster when he started the jack so I could easily have heard the pass phrase. I get a warjack bond on 4xp so I can just wait till after the next adventure to bond with it.

Sorry not available tonight got my nights mixed up at gig tonight but will be available tomorrow for GOW and tomorrow night,

talked with Shaun in the car how we may have not followed the rules 100% but went through ways the GM can restrict this to prevent it getting overpowered without spoiling the sib getting a war jack aspect.

Re: Gators Bitches (RPG Group)

It isn't just about keeping Sib happy.

The encounters should scale based on player numbers and jacks. We faught about 18 encounter points last night. And nearly died.

Feat points were abused a little too much.

We should have been fighting 25-28! (A jack counts as a party member). Our strategy (admittedly my idea, didn't realise it'd be a protracted siege!) wasn't great.

With another jack we are officially a party of 6 now.

So that'd be 35 encounter points! And we've got no better as a group.

Whilst a jack is a cool thing to have, it ties down a mobile killer to an average as hell light jack. And makes the game harder for little benefit.

There is a reason you need a second bond and lots of money to get a jack. Now our party is 2/3rds of it's size of actual characters. Boney's character can't fight, Jack's is a slugger but takes it too. I can kill 1 a turn relatively untouched. Sib can either over boost and have an average jack, or be vunerable and within 6"s of a light that is still a light.

I think we're setting ourselves up for a fall. However I will happily abide by the GMs decision.

I can't use it yet and won't be unless the scenario dictates. I like the stealth approach which is why I took that char. Any party in the right mind would have done the same tho.

If they were able to I agree.

But we broke the rules to do it. We couldn't actually do it the way we did.

And none of us knew the rules. And the GM didn't intend it. And we kind of hustled him into accepting it.

As I say though it's his show.

Yeah I'm coming round to keeping the jack.

I feel we need some kind of punishment though (although in my opinion 2XP +2 to share was harsh! I killed 4 snipers, 1 shotted a captain (who we didn't search doh!, and blasted 1 ranger and a sniper 7 body count for me!).

We should be punished for not knowing the rules.

But maybe so should the GM!

So maybe we write it off to experience! And just crack on!

In the future we should dock XP for people who shout "I've got X rule and it's fine" when it doesn't do it. *Boney Ahem*

The rules are quite expansive and I used what ever I could from memory, its all a learning ezperience and we won't be doing that again, if I was to loose the jack probably would have played compleatly different as didn't realy understand the salvage rules, and I thought o could repaor a wreck(which I couldn't have in the field)

If you could have stripped some of the parts and carried them on my working jack, would have been a massive bonus but would have taken a few turns to compleate. I admit that getting a working jack off the belt is pretty wild but as its our first playthrough happy to go with whatever shaun says realy.
